Orchid Cellmark appoints Bruce Basarab as Vice President of north american Sales and Marketing
Princeton, NJ - March 9, 2007 Orchid Cellmark Inc. (NASDAQ: ORCH), a leading worldwide provider of DNA identity testing services, today announced that it has appointed Bruce F. Basarab as Vice President of North American Sales and Marketing. He will be based in Orchid Cellmark’s corporate headquarters in Princeton, New Jersey. Mr. Basarab is joining the company in a newly-created position, where he will be responsible for all aspects of Orchid Cellmark’s North American sales and marketing, including the company’s North American sales force.
Mr. Basarab has over 25 years of domestic and international experience in the medical device, diagnostics and pharmaceutical industries. Before joining Orchid Cellmark, he was Executive Vice President of Commercial Operations for medical device company i-STAT Corporation, where he was responsible for overseeing worldwide commercial activities including marketing, sales, customer and technical support, distribution and medical affairs. Previously, Mr. Basarab was Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Geneva Pharmaceuticals, the U.S. generic drug unit of Novartis. Mr. Basarab was promoted to this position from predecessor company Ciba-Geigy, where he first was Executive Director of Northwest Sales and then was appointed Vice President of Sales for the Pharmaceutical Division. Earlier in his career, Mr. Basarab held positions of increasing responsibility at Ciba Corning Diagnostics, including Director of National Accounts and Director of Sales and Marketing for their Critical Care Division.

Mr. Basarab has a B.A. degree in Chemistry from Bucknell University.
